Our country is seeing a decline in wool production due to the increase in costs for harvesting wool. Fewer and fewer people are shearing sheep, and those who remain are charging exorbitant prices, reducing profitability in producing good wool.
Cestari is immediately making the following changes: 1. We are raising the price we will pay for quality wool similar to that which we produce. 2. Starting in the Spring of 2017, we will be bringing mature sheep to our farm one tractor trailer load at a time, and will sell them to new and established sheep people. We will instruct the new comers how to raise wool sheep, then we will buy their wool and lambs at above market price. 3. We are in the process of working on an invention that will reduce the cost of shearing sheep, which will be more humane and comfortable for the sheep, as well as making the wool more economical to harvest. How can you support our endeavor? Consider purchasing our U.S.A. raised and manufactured wool and wool blend yarns. Our lines that contain wool are the Traditional Collection, the Mt. Vernon Collection, the Ash Lawn Collection, and the Montpelier Collection. Help us improve and increase the wool sheep numbers in the U.S.A.! Thank you for your continued support, Francis Chester-Cestari CEO, Cestari Sheep & Wool Company

Thank you! I found you at Tolt in Carnation, WA. I used to live in Centrevillve with my father during college summers and grew up in my early years in Northern VA. I feel connected to you, and most certainly to what you are about. You have my heart and your yarn has been made into many pairs of socks, and a couple sweaters, one of which is a beautiful hefty fisherman sweater, which my partner is chomping at the bit for. I begin the sleeves today. If I can figure out how to attach a photo, I'll send one along. The cables and knots are beautifully accentuated by your yarn which I am becoming deeply attached to.

Moving to your VA area in the not to far off future-id be interested in being a "new" sheep caretaker- I have purchased your yarn at the VA farm and raising a sheep or 2 is something ive dreamed of doing for a long time. Is 1 acre lot too small for 1-2 sheep or will I need more? thank you for your dedication to the animals and your quality yarns!
